Volume 9 – #12 – December 2006

As 2006 falls apart and we make way for 2007, there’s a lot to analyze and discuss and most media types will be doing just that well into the new year. What more can we say about the fall of someone as despicable as Saddam Hussein, a stupid president surrounding himself with power hungry thugs, normal people struggling to get by, no matter what their “leaders” foist upon them, catching pitiful sex predators on TV, the antics of Britney’s iconic genitalia, a society now thoroughly conditioned to thinking 2 dollars a gallon is cheap, the internet phenomenon becoming more cluttered and life hindering than we ever imagined, etc. Yet, this is what it is. We’re much closer than we’ve ever been to realizing that we have no control. The idea of constant change isn’t as scary as it was 50 years ago. It’s like we’re waking from an illusion that things are supposed to get better and better as our society gets more organized and structured, but it seems new problems always overwhelm the new solutions. This is a place in flux. Change your perspective. Lower your expectations and just ride the damn wave.

UPDATE:
THAT’S SHOWBIZ. At the last minute, we have learned something that makes postponing the Richardson Symphony show necessary. Due to budget woes the orchestra “discovered” in November and December of 2006, we were informed that the size of the orchestra for our show on January 20th would be greatly abbreviated. Our performance with them was not part of their regular season. It was special event. The only way we would be guaranteed to have a full orchestra was to reschedule and become part of the 2007-2008 season. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes, but we had no choice once we were given the bad news. A rescheduled date is being determined as this is being written.
