The Machine’s Pump Volume 19 – #11 – November 2016

I have stopped following the news on television, the radio, by computer and phone. I don’t want to see or hear anymore. It is shocking and numbingly sad that the citizens of the USA have handed the reigns of our country to such a repulsive, sinister human being. But we did. And this isn’t just about sour grapes. If a normal person, like a Romney or a McCain or even, believe it or not, another Bush, were about to occupy the White House, I might be a little bummed, but moving forward wouldn’t seem so bleak or creepy or, frankly, dangerous. And I’m not opposed to an outsider shaking up the Washington and/or Wall Street elite, but surely the powers that be could have found someone not so slimy or dishonest or unethical; someone who wouldn’t be a champion, even instigator, of conspiracy theories or magnet for the KKK. His own words reveal him to be anti-immigration, anti-environment, anti-science, anti-woman, anti-animal, anti-education, anti-art and so on. And his actions confirm so many negative qualities, I’m too weary to list them all. You’ve witnessed the same stuff I have. Does this man have even one decent quality? I’m serious. Whatever, I’m pretty powerless, as are you, so we need a good laugh.

FUNNY JOKE A
Interested Mom: What do you enjoy doing at recess?
Little Bobby: Playing President of the United States.
Interested Mom: Oh, that’s nice. Do you pretend you’re giving speeches?
Little Bobby: No, I chase girls and reach up their dresses and grab their pussies.
Interested Mom: Well, I can see why you’re so popular!

FUNNY JOKE B
Interested Mom: How was school today?
Little Bobby: Okay, I guess. There’s a new, stinky poor kid in class who stutters a lot and it’s fun to tease him until he cries so hard that snot’s running out of his nose.
Interested Mom: Oh, you’re just like your father.

My wife, Jane, recently tripped over Augie, our oldest dog (about 15 years old), in the kitchen and broke her wrist, ultimately requiring surgery and physical (hand) therapy. Augie never knew anything happened and continues to try to make us fall. We can laugh about it now. Augie has no idea what we’re laughing about.

Most of you have already heard this disturbing news. Our former percussionist and good friend, Joe Cripps, disappeared in his hometown of Little Rock. He was last seen at a live music bar, White Water Tavern, on October 18. Needless to say, we in his immediate circle of friends and musical comrades are beyond concerned. Of course, we hope he is found, alive, soon. If you have any information, please contact the Little Rock Police department. There’s an ongoing discussion about setting up a crowd-funding site to raise funds for a private investigator, but the LRPD has asked us to wait a couple of weeks, before bringing someone new on board.

Okay, fellow Earthlings, We, Brave Combo, are dropping off the planet for a few weeks to assess our relationship with the current state of humanity, returning, briefly, in December. Then, who knows what will happen? In the meantime, lock your doors and check this out.

Dark times indeed. “If that’s all there is then let’s keep dancing.”

This is a temporary glitch in the conceptual framework of the universe, Carl. They might need a polka band on Mars….
The world’s gonna need good times and music to get through this. And no, you can’t fix stupid but you CAN go over, under, sideways, down and around it!
    Never be complacent.

Hope your man is safe, and Jane heals quickly! Your genius will prevail.

    Hi Carl,

I’ve loved Brave Combo’s music for decades now and have probably listened to more hours of it than anyone other than Brave Combo itself.

I voted for Trump. I did that not for hate, but for the love of my country and the citizens and soldiers who can before me and made it great. You obviously have a different opinion. Unfortunately, our system of elections, rigged by the two major parties, only gives us two choices. The country is torn in two and which side does one go to and why?

I think we could sit down and have a very reasonable conversation about this.

    See you at Fitzgerald’s!

    Carl,

Looking forward to seeing Brave Combo in St Louis! Loved your recent comments in the Machine Pump about the election results. You ended your concise political rant by stating that you feel “pretty powerless” . I strongly disagree and I want to say that you have the power of the polka! Polka has the power to bridge our national division concerning what constitutes a great america. Only polka could motivate Donald Trump to toss over the classic comb over, don a Santa hat, and dance in the spirit of the old homeland to Must Be Santa! Now that would be a big step to make america great.

Don’t tweet about it Mr Trump – grab Melania and polka!
