Keep Denton “Frack Free” sez Carl

Carl Finch’s comments at the Arts & Jazz Festival about keeping his hometown of Denton, “Frack Free” made it into the new Denton Record Chronicle gossip column, Denton Dammit.

Before Brave Combo launched into “Do Something Different” Sunday at the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival, frontman Carl Finch told the muddy masses that he’s happy to live in a city that’s banned fracking. (Not too surprising, since the band played at a Frack Free Denton show last year.) Denton, he said, wants to be cool like Austin — but we don’t want to be Austin. Notice a theme here?

“I think you know where I stand. I think every member of Brave Combo stands with me on this issue, ladies and gentlemen,” Finch told the crowd. “This is real important stuff, not just for our health — this is important for the image of the town. This is what we’ve been trying to achieve. No one can touch this right now. This is where we can be on the top. Just think about that.”
