BRAVE COMBO BLOWS BORING BENNIE’S WIDE OPEN
“It’s Uncool to be Mellow Now”
Benny’s Jazz Club, Hickory St., Denton, Texas.
Tension mounted as we hurtled toward our clash with destiny – our first gig at Bennie’s with crowd consisting of friends and admirers! What could be a better scene for the coming of nuclear polka to jazz land? This was an evening we’ll all remember.
So many people the AC coundn’t handle it and it got hot! Were we ever hot! The audience was cookin’ too, they loved it all. Being unable to hold still, tables were moved aside and people commended to dance. At Benny’s tiny jazz club, this is sometimes hazardous to waitresses and bystanders.
We sent many people out into the night with “polka highs” – the peculiar aftereffect of Brave Combo’s music. Much talk the next day – we’ve hit the grapevine stage of publicity.
This was the first trial run of Lyle’s new trailer, for our equipment. It works fine – no more transportation hassles. The trailer has a wood fence around it – looks like this——->

This was the first night that I saw Brave Combo and Lyle’s discription was right on. We had seen the flyers and thougt you pronounced the band Brave’ Combo, so we thought it was a French band. Life has never been the same. Still Polka-ing after all there year.
