BRAVE COMBO at the “COWTOWN HOEDOWN”

(for the Gymnasts Internationale)

It all began with Fred Russow at Yesteryears at lunch.  (Gig # 33)  After months of tring, Fred put me in touch with Ed Borgan, promotion & marketing director for Tandy Center in fort Worth.  I told Ed we wanted to play, he called back in an hour – “Dec. 7!  Thousands of people!  TV!  RADIO!  International peoples!  I told him we had a belly dancer – he wanted 25 polka minutes (radio) and 4 minutes bellydance (TV)

I called Helen Noreen – she said ok.

Carl & I drove to FW one day to see the place and meet Ed.  Ed was getting extremely hoarse by now.

We got there.  What a sorry place.  It was a real hassle moving in equipment.  Nobody was there, no gymnasts, just some shoppers.  & lots of other entertainers.  No radio.  We were angry at the waste of time so didn’t play our pokas, but went and had lunch on Ed Borgan.

We  did our Belly Dance but 1st played the Beer Barrel polka.  This made Ed mad which he deserved.
