Brave Combo to Perform True Stories Tribute – March 12 at Poor David’s Pub

Denton, Texas polka visionaries, Brave Combo, will be performing a tribute to the 1986 movie, TRUE STORIES, at Poor David’s Pub on Saturday, March 12, 2016. TRUE STORIES was the brainchild of Talking Heads’ frontman, David Byrne and 2016 is the 30th anniversary of its release. The movie was filmed in and around Dallas. Brave Combo was involved in many aspects of the production, including composing and recording original music, scouting the North Texas area for eccentric talent and appearing in various scenes, including a fashion show at Northpark Mall and a parade featuring an accordion marching band.

The evening’s performance will feature all of the songs contributed by Brave Combo plus various other musical moments from the film soundtrack, including combo-ized versions of the Talking Heads’ hits, “Wild, Wild, Life,” “Road to Nowhere” and the bubbly samba “Festa Para Um Rei Negra”, by Banda Eclipse, Jeffrey Barnes’ Latin ensemble.

The True Stories Tribute will also be performed at the Brave Combo shows at Fred’s Texas Cafe in Fort Worth on March 26 and Dan’s Silverleaf on March 29.
